Key Stage 1 and 2

The National Curriculum sets out the full and statutory entitlement to learning for all pupils in state schools. It determines the content of what will be taught, and sets attainment targets for learning. It gives teachers, pupils, parents, employers and their wider community a clear and shared understanding of the skills and knowledge that young people will gain at school.

Presented in these pages are a selection of teaching aids and resources to assist in applying the materials presented within Soil-Net to students in Key Stage 1 (age 5-7, school years 1-2) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11, school years 3-6).

Materials are provided relating to potential lesson plans, and the 'mapping' of the materials presented in soil net to the various relevant National Curriculum programmes, together with a commentary. The subjects are displayed in the sub-menu to the left.

Secondly there are a series of suggested activities, both indoors and outdoors for students to undertake.

Lastly there are a set of resources which can be used to develop soil-related lessons in the school.

If you find these mappings helpful or have any comments please let us know. We would always appreciate assistance in developing these mappings.
